As promised, here is a sneak peek into the fantastic morning I spent with Sally at Diamond Dog Vintage for our pin up swimwear photo shoot.
If you haven’t found your way instore yet, you really must make a point of it – not only is it filled with beautiful vintage garments of all sizes and silhouettes, but there are also many precious accessories and mementos of a bygone era. Sally knows the story of each and every item and whether you’re looking for a bridesmaid’s dress or a flirty Date Night day number, you’re sure to find a one-of-a-kind treasure!
The lovely Anna and Sharlene, on hand to assist our photographer (and for much needed moral support!) assembled a decidedly kitsch selection of props including the HMAS Cerberus sailor’s cap, colourful beach towels, cats eye sunnies and of course the obligatory sea shells. I have to admit however that my absolutely favourite item was the perfectly preserved mid 1950’s edition of Your Garden (how predictable!).
Apparently gladiolus were all the rage in that particular year, which was fortunate considering I’d fashioned my headpiece out of golden yellow gladioli and leucadendron for the occasion…
Diamond Dog Vintage is at 105 Charles St Seddon (corner of Gamon Street) and opening hours are 11am – 4pm Wednesday to Friday and 11am – 6pm Saturday & Sunday. Let Sally know I sent you!
